With his rattle he hailed the citizen to put the garbage outside for the pickup.

Mokum Mariteam has innovated the garbage pickup proces into:

Distribution over the canals of Amsterdam, goods in, garbage out

Today was the introduction of this environment friendly proces and the kick off for the ‘Mokum Mariteam pilot periode 2008′ The pollution in the city as well as the trafficjam will reduce with this proces. The quality of life in the city will be upgraded for inhabitants & the environment. The garbage will be recycled and used to get the electric power for the transport vehicles and boats. That’s the recycle-circle!

The ‘Mokum Mariteam’ initiative comes from ICOVA B.V., a major waste and resource management company serving customers in the great Amsterdam area.

Alderman Maarten van Poelgeest (left) & ICOVA’s Commercial Manager Cor Gerritsen for the kick-off. Van Poelgeest is very interested in the ‘vracht via de gracht’ (‘cargo through the canal’) proces.
